Description

We invite qualified applicants for one of two open postdoc positions on our highly collaborative team studying the neural population dynamics underlying communication between sensorimotor cortices. One postdoctoral fellow will perform two-photon imaging experiments in mice performing reaching tasks (Prof. Matthew Kaufman’s lab, U Chicago, Chicago), and the second fellow will perform computational analyses and AI methods development using the collected data (SNEL, Emory U, Atlanta). This project will build upon our previous collaborative efforts to uncover latent dynamics from large neural populations using 2P imaging (RADICaL; Zhu… Kaufman*, Pandarinath*, Nature Neuroscience 2022).

This position requires a minimum 2-year commitment and physical relocation to Chicago (experimental fellow) or Atlanta (computational fellow).

Key Qualifications:

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Neuroscience, Computer Science, or a related field. Strong background in quantitative methods is encouraged.
  • Track record of rigorous and creative contributions to science
  • Outstanding communication (both verbal and written) in the English language and interpersonal skills.
  • Independent work ethic, initiative, critical problem-solving, task prioritization skills, and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multisite research team.
